Electoral Commission
This public body was set up on 30 November 2000 under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000. It is independent of the Government, not connected to any political organisation and answerable to Parliament. It has a unique role in the UK's constitution. The Commission aims for integrity and public confidence in the UK’s democratic process. It seeks to achieve transparency in party and election finance, with high levels of compliance; and well run elections, referendums and electoral registration. The Commission can be contacted at :
